What does 1 + 1 = 2 have to do with managing or transforming your career?

If you think about it, there are lots of mathematical approaches and solutions to help you envision and manage your leadership career:

Career Advancement (Addition)

plussignBuild your career scope while staying in your current role then add success-enhancing  activities (professional associations, advisory boards, non-profit board membership, mentoring, etc.) that allow you to continue on a safe avenue, broadening your career longitude while adding value to others.

Burning Away the Non-Essentials (Subtraction)

minus_signHeighten your focus by eliminating distractions, low ROTI (Return on Time Invested, activities, and someone else’s musts.  Find your own time management tools that help you focus on the urgent and the important.

‘Hedging’ Your Career Bet (Division)

division_signRealize that you have interests outside of your current career.  Develop a second or third   career path and pursue it simultaneously in order to determine long-term viability.

Exponential Growth (Multiplication)

multiply_signExponential growth occurs when the growth rate of the value of a mathematical function    is proportional to the function’s current value. Identify your career “multipliers” that have worked for others who are doing what you wish to do.  Learn from and act on the success of others.

Transformation (Square Root)

square_rootMassive career attainment that is achieved through the synergistic interaction of:  changing your mindset; designing a superior strategy; taking massive action; flawless execution; exemplary networking; rock star exit and on-boarding tactics; leadership excellence, and utilizing your X-Competency.
